Petros, born in Thessaloniki, began studying piano at the age of five and went on to pursue advanced studies in piano, composition, and choral conducting throughout Greece and Europe. By age 20, he had already represented Greece at the Sonenberg European Conference of Young Conductors (1987), launching an international performing career that would span Europe, the United States, and beyond.
He later earned degrees in Classical Piano Performance and Music Education from New York University and studied Orchestral Conducting at Juilliard School. As a pianist and conductor, Petros has presented numerous classical and Greek music performances across the United States and internationally, appearing in concerts, recordings, and festivals, including representing the U.S. at the International Festival of Sydney in 1997.
A prolific composer, Petros has written music for radio, television, film, ballet, modern dance, and theater. His body of work includes orchestral and chamber music, vocal and choral compositions, a song cycle for soprano and piano, four children’s musicals based on plays by Aristophanes, a children’s oratorio, and numerous liturgical works for the Orthodox Church. He has conducted choirs and orchestras in performances and recordings around the world, establishing a distinguished career that bridges performance, composition, and recording artistry across classical and Greek musical traditions.
